We do it for fun!
The summer of 2016, one of our life-long friends entered us into a Porsche Club of America (“PCA”) auto-cross event at Rockford Speedway in Loves Park, Illinois. He had recently acquired a guards red 1983 Porsche 944. And, while the Porsche didn’t have the immense horsepower of the 911 GT3’s, Turbo’s, and Cayman’s, it was flawlessly original. During that event, we ran that Porsche through its’ paces and it enjoyed every moment. We, also, learned about the incredible interpersonal relationships with other PCA club members.
Spring of 2017, MWRACE purchased a 1990 Porsche 944 S2 to participate at future auto-cross events. However, that never occurred because the same family friend introduced MWRACE to the wonderful world of High Performance Drivers Education (“HPDE”) events. In May 2017, the Chicago PCA chapter held a “Novice” drivers education day at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in Winnebago County, Illinois. We both entered the event with the 1983 Porsche 944 and tested the timeless capabilities of the car. While we weren’t the fastest that day, MWRACE was hooked with road course racing. Days later, we jumped from the 1.95 mile circuit to the 4.048 mile world class monster at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
Over the next several years, MWRACE purchased multiple Porsche’s and participated at countless raceway events. We’ve traveled everywhere from the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in the spring, Mid-Ohio in the summer to Daytona Speedway in the fall/winter. Over that time, MWRACE has been exclusively supported by CS Motorsports (“CSM”) in Lannon, Wisconsin. It’s an organization that is truly committed to maintaining excellence both on and off the race track. Powered by CSM and supported by our phenomenal network of friends, MWRACE is poised for another fast-paced, adrenaline packed racing season with the Porsche Club of America.
